Getting Tired of American Idol

I am a fan of American Idol. I really am. I love to watch new talent get the chance to shine. But, you know, tonight is the third time in the auditions that Simon has made a snide remark about Clay with the other judges laughing. It is really turning me off of American Idol. I am not going to want to watch the program if I have to listen to them slamming Clay Aiken every week.

I just can't figure out why. They loved him when he was on the show. The showdown between him and Ruben Studdard was the best highlight of any season. They helped make the show the huge success it is today. His success helps to validate the entire premise that the show is built on.

And shame on Paula Abdul. Clay stuck his neck out and went on national TV to defend her against the allegations by Corey Clark. She at least could show a little graciousness where Clay is concerned.

I don't know. I am getting very turned off by these attacks on Clay. I don't find them funny and it just makes me not only want to change the channel, but also reluctant to tune in again next week.

I totally ceased to watch AI since about 2.5 years ago. It is
getting to be a joke, IMHO.
What did Clay ever do to deserve such negativity from the nipple-hugging shirt wearer Cowell? That is my honest question. I think that Clay was not expected to reach superstardom. But,the man is clearly talented. They can't fault him that. He is just PLAIN SMART! He is MULTITALENTED! One thing he is not is a pushover. I just so wish I could see Spamalot.

Clay was the big fish that got away. For every success he has, Simon looks very stupid. Simon sees himself as the heir apparent to Clive Davis, the next musical "visionary," so now he must rewrite history to make himself look better.

Max Clifford generated a statement out of Britain on the phony FTC complaint. He is Simon's PR guru and they were looking for a way to get the smear campaign over to the other side of The Pond. The tabloids couldn't do it because the laws in Britain are much different regarding slandering and libeling a celebrity in that the tabloids must prove the story is true, rather than US laws where the celebrity must prove the story is false, but must also prove that it rises to the definition of malice which, as the law is currently written, is difficult to prove. So even though Clay could be telling the truth, he could still lose the case. Which is why his defamer knew he would probably not be sued. The tabloids made sure not to print the scam in the European editions or Clay could have sued and would have won BIG TIME.

SImon has become a one note tune. Like a certain stalker, he has very tiny feet.

That show has gotten so boring and predictable. Everyone knows it's fixed. The entire show is edited to sway voters in order to achieve a certain result. If it looks like someone is running away with the show, they'll crown that person the winner but won't put any money behind them to achieve success and get radio play. The payola goes to back the Chosen One, whoever that will be. Believe me, that person has already been chosen as has the remainder of the Top 12.

No argument here. I made a vow not to watch AI anymore the last time that Slimey Brit trashed Clay. That man-boobed, ill-mannered freak can BITE ME.

I totally agree with you. I can't figure it out because they could sit back and take the credit for actually recognizing his talent and putting him through at the time of his original audition. But instead they have to slam him week after week. I think Clay's name is brought up more than anyone else's. Too bad it's in a negative way most of the time. Although last night Ryan did start the show by saying Atlanta is where they found Superstar Clay Aiken, Hudson, and Fantasia. I was hopeful for a minute, but then the three stooges had to go and ruin it once again. They just can't get over the fact that they were so wrong to pimp Ruben over Clay.

I love your blog about the insensitivies to Clay. I, too, just don't understand it. Is there a way we could send your blog to FOX with all our signatures on it? There are plenty of Claymates out there who would wholeheartedly agree, but also a lot of other people who, while not real Clay fans, who are cringing as well!

PandaRose,

I totally agree with you. It seems as though for the past two years, the "three stooges" wouldn't dare mention Clay's name.

Now they can't say CA enough, almost as if they want credit for his success -- but always with an accompanying snide remark.

Like you, I enjoy watching the discovery and development of new talent. I have yet to turn on AI this season ... and may not.

Caro

Whether the nasty little judges on AI mean to or not, they sure are keeping Clay's name out there. I think, really, this is more of a positive than a negative. It is a little mystifying why Clay is always on their minds, though.

Clay has gone to superstardom. Forget Simon!!! He's not worth my while. He just could not believe his bulging eyes how much Clay has grown into an attractive and enigmatic figure. Probably wishing now he was not short and plump.
